So i was reading about satellite viruses and this one point has eluded me.
Satellite virus require a 'helper virus', this I get but......
Do satellites get packaged within the helper virus or are they completely independent and only use the helper virus to make their own protein coat. It would seem few code for their own coat protein but most use the helper virus's coat protein.

Jhon this is what i found there can be satellite Viruses and Satellite RNA or DNA. Satellite RNA/DNA often don't encode coat protein. But satellite viruses encode their own cote proteins but relay on helper virus on replication. In some cases both a satellite virus and a satellite RNA have been found in one system with a single helper virus. And satellite viruses can be associated with the helper virus but not inside of the cote protein of the helper virus. But in the case of Satellite RNA or DNA could be inside the same helper partial but i am not sure about it.
