Article from Nature reviews-Microbiology discussing TEN REASONS to exclude viruses from the tree of life. There was another article which stated TEN REASONS to support viruses in the tree of life. I think I missed that from my collection somehow, but I will find that as well and post. Attachments:nrmicro2108.pdf (327.65 KB)

Thanks for positing. The paper highlights the "virocentric origin of life theory". This is something I did not have time in class to discuss. But there are people who believe that the life began with RNA or DNA. So if you go back far enough it time---viruses existed before anything. Others argue that viruses cannot exist without cells and so they arose out of cells. The paper also points out how much taxonomy is a human invention to impose organization. Very good paper!
